08:15 pm - Official Facebook Thread
How many people here have gotten their Harvard facebook yet? I figure this would be a good place to post facebook links so we can friend each other and feel popular and such.

That being said, Facebook me!

Also, is anyone else getting scarily addicted to Facebook? I just got it last night, and I've already spent several hours on it, although that's probably mostly a reaction to the post-AP lack of work awesomeness.

Name: Natalia [insert unpronounceable last name I am paranoid about giving out online here]
Hometown: the burbs of NYC, which everyone who lives here will tell you so they can pretend like NYC is in the name of the place they live
High School: Horace Mann School For Overachievers
Intended (or possible) Concentration: Mathematics, applied math
AIM/MSN/etc: QueenOfOgygia (yeah, I'm dorky, get over it)
Favorite Hobbies: hanging with friends, theater (mostly acting but tech too), writing, singing
Favorite Books: The His Dark Materials trilogy, The Feast of Love, the poetry of Louise Gluck, Never Let Me Go, Ship Fever, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, To Kill A Mockingbird, YA fiction (especially the Princess Diaries books, the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants books, and Opal Metha. I kid, I never got to read Opal Metha).
Favorite TV Shows: Lost, Veronica Mars, My So-Called Life, basically anything they show on the-N (Degrassi, Instant Star, South of Nowhere.... mmmm cheesy teen dramas!)
Favorite Movies: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Pianist, Moulin Rouge, Romeo + Juliet, Shakespeare in Love, Maria Full of Grace, Kinsey
Favorite Music: Bob Dylan, Ani Difranco, Liz Phair (old more than new, but only slightly more), Antigone Rising, Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, The Killers, Regina Spektor, Patti Smith, Kelly Clarkson, really bad pop music (i.e. Ashlee Simpson, Britney Spears, etc.)
Something Fun About You: I wrote one of my essays about my eyebrow ring and its premature demise.
Does It Upset You That You Can't Actually Park The Car In Harvard Yard: Not as much as does four years of people making jokes about parking the car in the Harvard Yard, and BAHston, and OKAY, WE GET IT, YOU THINK PEOPLE FROM BOSTON TALK FUNNY. YOU'RE NOT CLEVER, MMKAY?
Anything Else: I keep trying to wean myself off curse words because I'm starting to realize people who haven't known me as long as my high school friends might not realize that I mean "I hate all of you" and "go fuck a sheep" and "you asshole *swats arm*" as terms of endearment.

Sweet, I'm glad someone made this community. I was looking for one to join!

Name: Katie
Hometown: SF Bay Area, California
High School: Campolindo HS
Intended (or possible) Concentration: Not sure yet, but possibly VES
AIM/MSN/etc: club0crescendo (AIM)
Favorite Hobbies: theatre (especially musical theatre), singing, piano, golfing, DDR and Karaoke Revolution, and spending quality time with my friends
Favorite Books: Pride and Prejudice and all other Jane Austens, The Fountainhead, Memoirs of a Geisha, A Picture of Dorian Gray, anything by David Sedaris, The Other Boleyn Girl, Catcher in the Rye
Favorite TV Shows/Movies: Don't watch much TV because my parents refuse to get cable (I know, I'm a deprived child) but I love Friends, Sex and the City, and What Not to Wear. I'd probably love more if I knew more shows. *g* As for movies... Almost Famous, Pride and Prejudice (the 6-hour long A&E version with Colin Firth, hell yeah), Rent, My Fair Lady, The Breakfast Club, Dirty Dancing (the original), Mean Girls, Stepmom, Garden State, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Finding Nemo, When Harry Met Sally, etc.
Favorite Music: I listen to a lot of Broadway recordings, my favorites are See What I Wanna See, The Last Five Years, Les Miserables, Bare, A Chorus Line, Urinetown, and Ragtime. For my more mainstream tastes though, I love Anna Nalick, Natasha Bedingfield, Liz Phair, Karmine Alers, Madonna, Kelly Clarkson, La Oreja de Van Gogh, The Murmurs, and really anything from any genre. I love music. :)
Something Fun About You: I work in a chocolate shop. And yes, I get all the free chocolate I want.
Does It Upset You That You Can't Actually Park The Car In Harvard Yard: I'm devastated.
Anything Else: Meh, not really. I can't go to the visiting weekend or whatever next weekend because I'll be on a choir trip to Disneyland, but I'm hopefully doing Dorm Crew Fall Clean-Up so maybe I'll meet some of you then!

10:55 pm - Hi!
Hey everyone - welcome to the community.

Name: Sam Linden
Hometown: Bloomfield Hills, MI (a suburb of Detroit)
High School: Andover High School
Intended (or possible) Concentration: Hoping to do a dual concentration - either Music/Physics or Music/English
AIM/MSN/etc: Wickywoo II - feel free to IM me!
Favorite Hobbies: Music (I sing, play saxophone, and compose), and theatre, mostly. I also like to read, play on swingsets (I'm weird like that), and I'm something of an LJ addict.
Favorite Books: The Wheel of Time series (Robert Jordan), The Fountainhead (Ayn Rand), Remains of the Day (Kasuo Ishiguro), and (of course) Harry Potter.
Favorite TV Shows/Movies: E.R., Nip/Tuck, Lost, Big Love, Curb Your Enthusiasm, House, and I have a depressing OC addiction, despite their awful portrayal of the college application process. AS far as movies go, I like a lot, but my favorite is probably Dead Poets Society.
Favorite Music: EVERYONE SHOULD LISTEN TO TALLY HALL. Aside from that, basically anything on a Top 40 alternative rock station, classical, and musicals.
Something Fun About You: I have riduculous long curly hair. And I'm goofy.
Does It Upset You That You Can't Actually Park The Car In Harvard Yard: Kind of.
Anything Else: Can't wait to meet you all in September - I can't be at the admitted students weekend (stupid Spring Play...)
